The new oak entrance door has now been fitted

Specialist lead workers prepare the iron balustrade by gently heating the metal balusters prior to pouring the molten lead into the pockets

The gentle heat is kept on the iron balusters as long as possible as this allows for a far better adhesion between the lead and iron work.
Note that the molten lead is in a ladle on the left ready to be poured.

Again the heat is kept on to ensure the liquid lead flows around the iron baluster and gets into every part of the pocket

The specialist lead workers erect fire blankets as protection around the crucible where the lead will be melted and the crucible stands in a metal tray.

The lead workers constantly remove the "slag" which forms on top of the liquid lead. This is when any impurities float on the top.

An image of the finished item. Very traditional and very smart
